I have an electric kettle like this one. I bought it at Costco for $20. I really like the convenience of this kettle. It heats up the water faster than a microwave. I used it to heat up water for tea, hot chocolate, preparing oatmeal in the morning faster, and also for brining the beans today. This is a very simple kettle with an on/off switch and a clear view of the water level and also a screen in the pour spout.
